Im going to take up ventriloquism for a hobby. And if anyone can make them or knows anyone can make them in australia i really need to no.
Im willing to pay.

Ok, first, start with this, that answers the question "where to buy ventriloquist dummies in Australia":

http://www.puppetsinmelbourne.com.au/faq.php/2008/12/01/where-to-buy-ventriloquist-dummies-in-au

Then, "where to buy puppets in Australia":

http://www.puppetsinmelbourne.com.au/faq.php/2007/12/06/where_to_buy_puppets

Basically, I don’t know of any individual in particular that makes them (and I try to catalogue every puppet maker in Aus., being one myself), but the simplest way to find someone will be to go to
http://www.unima.org.au (the Aus. centre for puppetry) and browse their members. Contacting someone local to you will bring you more info than a random stab in the dark.

Also, be warned. Custom puppets are expensive, and a ‘traditional’ vent dummy can cost you heaps (American company Axtell.com sells them for thousands). As an alternative, you can purchase a muppet-type puppet, which can be easier found at large or specialist toy shops, or online; and there are plenty of puppet makers who sell on Etsy.com or eBay. A little bit on pricing of puppets can be found here:

Well, there’s been news of an Earthquake in Australia. It was in Western Australia; while I am over in South Australia. I’ve only heard of an Earthquake in Australia once but I looked into it, and it seems much more common than I thought.

How do earthquakes happen in Australia when none of the Tectonic plates do not even cross or come too close to Australia?

There may not be any tectonic plates near by, but there could be some fault lines around. We have fault lines all across the USA. People don’t think earthquakes can happen here in the state of Arizona, or in New York City. "What? Earthquakes? That’s California." Most people don’t realize there are fault lines in the area. They may not generate quakes as strong as, or as often at southern California. none the less they can still cause a quake.

Australia may imitate others where that particular action or thing suits it or its people. As a nation, however, Australia punches well above its weight when it comes to innovation, invention and international relations.. Where else is there a nation of some 30 million people in an area almost as large as the continental United States that is one of the leading economies on the planet. We’ve saved lives, won wars and led the way for others. See my source for the list of inventions Australians have been responsible for.

I do not have any hardcore accounting background however have studied basic accounting in school and college. In addition i have over 5 years of work experience however all of it has been with the customer services industry. I am a bit sceptical about finding a job and what kind of jobs will I be able to get upon completion of this course. As this course is on the shortage occupations list in australia, my goal is to stay back in australia and work in the finance sector. What kind of jobs will I be able to get after this course and after a few years can I move towards investment banking ? Also, what other credits or subjects do I need to study to become a chartered accountant? Thanks …..
I am planning to study masters in accounting from australia. I do not have any hardcore accounting background however have studied basic accounting in school and college. In addition i have over 5 years of work experience however all of it has been with the customer services industry. I am a bit sceptical about finding a job and what kind of jobs will I be able to get upon completion of this course. What kind of jobs will I be able to get after this course and after a few years can I move towards investment banking ? Also, what other credits or subjects do I need to study to become a chartered accountant in australia?

Getting a masters in accounting is a great idea. As far as what you need to become a chartered accountant, feel free to ask one of your professors when you start classes. It’s different in every country so it’s best to check with someone who holds that position in your own country. Remember accounting isn’t just keeping the books straight, it’s also being able to help the customer or client make decisions to make their financial matters more efficient; it’s not only about helping them out with their taxes but showing them a way to minimize taxes in upcoming years legally. I do happen to know that there is a general shortage of business professors. Many older professors are retiring and there’s a big age gap among these professors. At least here in the states that shortage has led to high starting salaries for professors in business, especially in accounting, so you may want to look into whether that’s the case in Australia as well. Basically accountants have a few options, go into taxes, into auditing, consulting, the private sector, and education. Have fun and good luck with your masters.

I am planning a honeymoon to Australia next summer. I have never been there before. I think we have decided we want to stay near Cairns because its near a rain forest and the great barrier reef. I live in the US and there is a 14 hour time difference between here and there. Is there anything I need to know about Australia before I go? Any suggestions for us to get to enjoy the utmost of the Australian experience while we are there? Is a week long enough to really enjoy it?
Whats the weather like in June? Beach weather?

Hi Crys

Wow – so much to see and do and you are only allowing a WEEK.? You need more time !!!
Well, if you can’t afford the time off so be it.

OK living in Cairns and done all the tourist things I would recommend the following:

One day trip – Skyrail Rainforest Gateway – a must see ! http://www.skyrail.com.au go up on the skyrail to the rainforest village of Kuranda and come back down via the Kuranda Scenic Railway http://www.ksr.qr.com.au You can also spend time in the village in between at http://www.kuranda.org

A trip to the Aboriginal Culture Park http://www.tjapukai.com.au
(they are in the same car park as the Skyrail)

One day trip – A trip out on the reef to Green Island – http://www.greatadventures.com.au or http://www.greenisland.com.au

About Green Island here – http://www.greenislandresort.com.au
You can snorkel out on the reef, take a glass bottom boat, do the scoobdo – http://www.scubadoocairns.com or seawalker http://www.seawalker.com.au – all great experiences there is half day trips or full day.

Spend time in Cairns City at the Esplanade swimming and sunbaking by the lagoon Cairns Esplanade http://www.cairnsesplanade.com you are spoilt for choice of restaurants on the main strip there also. Cairns Central Mall is a 10 min walk from the Esplanade for shopping in the air condition – believe me, you’ll need it.

There is a small Tropical Zoo here – worth going to see ALL Australian animals. – http://www.wildworld-aus.com.au – Have your photo taken cuddling a Koala!

Port Douglas is about a 50 min drive from Cairns city – worth it for the scenery.
http://www.portdouglaseguide.com, or http://www.vcentres.com.au/port-douglas

For more great sites on what to do in Cairns

Things to do and See in Cairns

http://www.tropicalaustralia.com.au/things_to_do_and_see

The Daintree Discovery Centre is awesome and well worth the day trip, it’s an easy 2 hour drive north of Cairns.
http://www.daintree-rec.com.au There is a small river you have to cross on the way – I’m sure it’s around the $20 mark for the ferry crossing.
Don’t foregt your aeroguard (bug repellant) in the rainforest!

The weather in Cairns – no problems… Instead of four seasons, Cairns has a wet season and dry season. Cairns averages at about 24 ° to 28 ° C dry season and in the summer (wet season) Dec – Feb 30 ° to 35 ° C
More on Cairns weather – http://www.bom.gov.au/weather/qld/

Enjoy your honeymoon and married life!
