For over ten years I have noticed classified ads in the lost and found section (of the Detroit Free Press and others) for lost passports. What’s weird is that they are usually middle eastern, or sudanese, or sometimes they say Lebanon. They say something like "Lost Pakistan passport. Please call ‘Name and phone number’. Anyone else notice these ads? One thing for sure, it ain’t about lost passports – there’s way too many.
some countries require that you advertise to see if it get returned
and for some people getting a new one is a nightmare …anything is worth a try -

I need to find out from people who have recently visited from Mexico, what papers are the US borders accepting while passports are still being transmitted. For ex: passport receipts, birth certificate, i.d. picture…etc? Or are they charging any fines for not having the passports on time?
Thank you.
If it were me I would have the passport receipt AND birth certificate. -

I will be travelling to Macau & Zhuhai next week. Would like to know is it safe to keep our passports in hotel room safe box or better to bring it along with us?
- If the hotel is a decent one, it should be safe.
- I have family in China and Macau, so I normally kept my Passports and majority of cash at my family/friend’s home if possible. I have kept some cash in China’s hotel safe box in room (RMB$4000 or so) during my trips for a few times. I never have any problem so far. I guess cash is more attractive to thiefs than a passport.
- I am sure there are some risk in both cases. If you are carrying them, you are at risk of pick pocket. If you leave them in safety box at hotel room, it is at risk of someone in hotel stealing it. So, I choose to be half and half for my money.
- You may want to leave your passport in hotel, but just remember always to carry around at least 1 form of other ID as driver license even that ID may not be valid in that country. (At least you have something to identify yourself. )
- The hotel may have a hotel staff managed safety box instead of a safety box in room. Some people may perfer this way.You need your passport for sure when you are going from Macau to Zhuhai even you can walk accross the border. If you are staying at Hotel at Macau, and planning to have a same day trip to Zhuhai, you still need your Passport/VISA with you.

Where African Americans allowed to own passports or did they have to wait a few years?
Like, while a typical white american family might have gone on holiday to Europe, was this right denied to African Americans? If it was, what year where they allowed to get a passport?
Thanks for answering

No. Afro Americans were in a segregation stage. A lot of prejudicial turmoil. I’m not going to quote the year but, it had to be sometime after that that the Afro Americans were given the right to vote that they were allowed to carry passports. -

I’ve heard greencard and passports a lot but I never knew what it ment. Can anyone help me?
Passports are issued by governments of countries to identify the holder as a national (citizen) of that country. For example, a U.S. passport holder is a U.S. citizen. People who travel outside their own country are often required to show their passport to the country they are visiting.Green cards are a U.S.-specific form of identification that the U.S. government issues to non-U.S. persons (legal aliens) which enables a legal alien to work legally in the U.S.

My son is applying for his provisional licence but does not know whether the photo has to be signed on the back in the same way that photos for passports are…
Thanks in advance

They’ve said they were going to start requiring passports over a year ago, but never did.
Now I’m hearing that it’s definitely going to start in January 2009.
Does anyone know for a fact that this is true?
I plan on going to Canada in spring or summer of 2009 and would like to know if I need a passport. You need a passport NOW if you fly. You will need a passport for land and sea travel to and from ‘Canada starting June 2009. Right now, for land travel you need birth certificate and photo I.D. See site below to read the law for yourself. Good idea to apply soon as there will be a grand rush as June gets closer.

I am separated from my husband, who chooses to have no contact with our two daughters aged 12 and ten. We are not legally separated and there is no court or other type of residence order or agreement.
Do I need my estranged husbands permission to obtain passports for my girls and if so does this need to be in writing? My parents want to take the girls to Disneyland Paris (I shall be at home looking aftre the dogs!). Will I need my ex’s permission for my parents to do so?
Also will my parents need my written permission to do so?
By the way, we were all born in and live in the UK. thanks all!

Israels secret agents used British Passports to travel to kill a member of Hamas. Is this a diplomatic and /or moral no go?
Regardless of how the West view Hamas, they are the elected majority in the Palestinian Parliament. Israel has a history of state sponsored political assassinations around the world, with most Governments neither condemn or offer support for it. It is only now, that their shady murderous dealings have become mainstream news and as such, western Governments will have to make it known their position due to the illegal use of passports. There will be no response from the Western Governments, they will publicly voice disapproval and that’s it. Israel has got it’s dirty little fingers in the pots of many Western Governments. The Jewish lobbyists plough multi millions into the coffers of political parties worldwide, safe in the knowledge that Israel will be looked favourably upon. This fascist little nation carrying an enormous chip on there shoulders needs to be held to account, and told that they cannot get away with genocide and political assassinations. -

I know passports come in many different colours, but are they all the same size? Looking to buy some passport covers for some jet-setting friends and I want to be sure they fit!
Yes, they are.
