Do we need passports to walk across the border or drive across the border to go to see Niagara Falls on the Canadian side in February?

Would a Copy of my birth Certificate be sufficient. My mom wont give me my original because she’s afraid i may lose it.

Hi I’m Canadian…I don’t think as an American citizen you need passports to come to Canada by land. What you will need is to have some proof of citizenship (i.e Birth Certificate, citizenship card etc).

If you want more information then google Canadian Border Services and it will take you to the website that will give you all the info you need…and I’m pretty sure there’s a 1 800 number there as well…

Why is it good to keep Passports and important papers during a Disaster?

I have a project, that is titled
EMERGENCY DISASTER KIT- for Texas history class.
I have to explain why it is important to keep:

Maps and important documents
(passports, insurance papers and identification)

Please help me!!

Maps, so you know where to go if you need directions and what not.

Passports you can use for photo ID to prove who you are, and also for international travel.

Insurance Papers incase you have any home or car damage you can use the cards/contact the company to help/cover the damage.

How To Remove Mold On Passports/Documents?

I have old passports which smell moldy. If I do not kill the mold eventually the pages will stain. Obviously I cannot use liquids as the ink from the passport stamps and visas will run. What is done to treat paper documents with mold? What do libraries and museums do? Thanks.

Challenges in Driving from Chicago to Niagra Falls with USA and Indian Passports?

We are planning trip from Chicago to Niagra falls and the shorter route is thru Canada. My parents and sister have Indian passports and my family have USA passports.

What are the challenges in crossing Canadian border and returning to USA ?

Do you need canadian VISA if you hold Indian passport and you are here on a US visitor visa for Niagra Falls ?

Should I travel in USA only to reach Niagra Falls and do not cross Canadian border ?

If you have a passport then you will be fine to cross the border. I live in Niagara Falls, NY and frequently cross the border into Canada as I have family living there. Depending on the customs agent, you might get a hard time, but as long as you have the proper documentation and answer their questions honestly, there will be no lasting problems – at most you’ll be asked to pull over for further questioning.

As for the question of whether you should travle just through the USA – it depends on how much time it will save you to drive through Canada. You are going to be crossing the bridge two times – once on your way from Chicago into Canada and one as you are leaving Canada and going to Niagara Falls. I know that especially on Holiday weekends, the bridge can be backed up for two hours or more. So, if you take that and mulitply it by both crossings and then add in the possibility of being stopped and questioned at the bridge, you could add significant time to your trip. I can tell you that when I go to Michigan I always drive through Canada. But if you choose to drive through the USA because of bridge traffic, but still want to see Canada, you can walk across the bridge – with a lot less hassle – and see an amazing view of Niagara Falls from both sides. The walk takes 5-10 minutes, including customs and wheelchairs or baby strollers are OK.

The Rainbow Bridge is the one right in Niagara Falls that you can walk over, the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge is about a 10-15 minute drive away and the Peace Bridge is about a 40 minute drive away.

Niagara Falls is a fantastic and beautiful place to visit with a lot of nice things to do. Enjoy your trip.

We have 2 adults, one person who is 15, two people who are 13, and a 4 year old. Are passports needed for everyone, are picture IDs needed? What will we need to board our flight?
What kind of IDs are needed? Also, how much forms of ID?

What is position of children (with British passports) of British citizen married to Indian living in India?

I am a British citizen married to an Indian living in India for 30 years. If I get British passports for my two children, what is their position, and what permissions are required for them to stay in India or leave India?

They cannot hold dual nationality as Indian citizens although the UK allows it.

Another point to consider is that you must have the permission of both parents to apply for a passport for a British child unless you have sole responsibility. Sole responsibility is not the same as sole custody.

What will they do to us if we go to Canada without passports?

We are going to Michigan next week and we don’t have passports. Will we get in trouble if we drive over to Toronto? Will they send us to the Base in Cuba? Do they have the check points like going into mexico?

You won’t have any problem at all. . .until you try to get back into the United States. Then, you’re prety much screwed.

Under the Act of 16 March 1998 French Citizenship, you won’t be able to claim French citizenship. One or either parents has to be French. naturalization can only be claimed by foreigners who have resided in France for the 5 years preceding their application for French citizenship. The first time U.S. passport application is $75 to be paid to the State Department and $25 to be paid to the passport acceptance facility to take the oath; the reguular processing time takes 4-6 weeks at present; it can be expedited to 2-3 weeks by paying an additional fee of $60 to the State Department plus $14.96 for overnight delivery by courier service.
The fee for a passport renewal by mail is $75 for regular service; the same additions apply for expedited service.

If I have two passports, a Jamaican and a Canadian, Is it illegal to present my Jamaican passport when I arrive in one country and then the Canadian when I come back to Canada?

Not at all if you legally have both nationalities!
You can use either passport, whichever is more convenient for your travels.
