Time travel perhaps?

I don’t know if this counts in your case but there is such a thing as a "returning residents permit" which allows you to be outside of the country for a period of time without loosing your permanent resident status. IT does cost and there are limits but it is possible to stay out long and still keep your status….to a point. You will need to make a decision one way or the other about if you want your status. If you want it bad enough it’s worth working for.

Cuz a lot of the other 33 are 3rd world countries. Yeah brazil has pretty good fanufacturing…in the middle of violent, unsanitary favelas. South America is just a fucking mess. The older traditions work ok on their own but when new shit that doesnt work comes in…makes a mess. And carlos slims(richest guy in the world) runs a business thats gonna be dead in 25 years. And the US and Canada arent even 250 years old

Will Canada allow this to happen like the Americans in the southwest did?

HAMILTON — Nowhere was it more apparent than at St. Julie Billiart Parish Saturday, June 19, how much the Catholic church has placed itself in the center of the immigration debate.

Inside the church’s bingo hall, hundreds of Mexicans lined up for passports or Mexican IDs at the Mobile Mexican Consulate’s Office.

In front of the cathedral on Dayton Street, dozens of activists marched along the street with picket signs, some reading “Immigrants welcome. Illegals go home.”

The Rev. Manuel Viera said the church for years has agreed to host the consular office “as a way to serve the community here, very much in line with the teaching of the Catholic church.”

“We have a higher authority to attend to,” he said, surrounded by the organized hum of more than 100 people asking questions and filling out forms in Spanish.

One of the main functions of the consular office is to issue consular IDs — issued by Mexico without concern for immigration status — that Mexican residents can use to open bank accounts or access hospital services in the U.S.

“So at least they’ll now have some official government document to identify them,” Viera said. “The alternative is they’ll buy IDs from people who sell fake IDs.”

In an open letter sent out last week, Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr, archbishop of Cincinnati, outlined the Catholic church’s controversial view on the issue.

The Wednesday, June 16, letter states the church must respect national borders and laws, but “the Catholic Church also teaches that all human beings have a right to migrate.”

The letter is critical of the current immigration system, saying there are too few paths to legal citizenship and those who are here illegally are left “living in fear, hiding in the shadows.”

‘Thou shalt not lie’

“I’m very much opposed to the Catholic church’s opinion on power politics and greed,” said Joe Macke, standing on Dayton Street with a sign that read “Viva Arizona SB 1070,” and waving at honking cars as they passed.

How would the Churches in Canada react is my question ?

Does anyone know how much work experience would be needed, and whether British social work qualifications are accepted in Canada? Has anyone did this before, and you did you find it? Is it tough to find a job in Canada? Thanks!

Here’s the assessment process, below.

You need at least one year, preferably two of experience before you can apply and the application takes about two years to complete if you are accepted.

There aren’t a lot of job vacancies at the moment but things might improve in four years.

I am planning to visit Canada which is a good place to see between Toronto, Montreal Quebec? Which are the local attractions at each of these places and how easy is it to travel from one city to the other? I also wish to see the falls from the Canada side.

It’s a straight shot along the 401 (equivalent to a major interstate) from Toronto to Montreal, and Kingston is about halfway. Kingston is a pretty old city, with stone buildings from the 1800’s and a massive stone fort built to defend the mouth of the Rideau Canal against US invasion. On Wednesday evenings they put on a very impressive military retreat, based on the British Army drill book of that era. A bit closer to Montreal is Upper Canada Village near Morrisburg, with original pioneer buildings moved to the site to preserve them from the flooding that resulted from the construction of the St Lawrence Seaway. It’s a great living museum.
If you have some time and want to go a bit slower, you might take Highway 2 some of the time. It parallels the 401 and takes you through some gorgeous countryside along the St Lawrence River, and through some quaint small towns.

Niagara however, is in the opposite direction. Take the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) west out of Toronto and follow the signs. It’s a pretty easy 1h15m drive approx.

I’d like to know if there are any differneces in the lifestyle of Canada as opposed to the US. Here in the US people always seem to be stressed out about work and finances. Of course there is always that stigma that Americans are rude. However, I’ve heard that people in Canada are much nicer.

So I’m wondering if the quality of life in Canada is different, or is it just basically the same?

In Canada it’s harder to start a business and be entrepreneurial but easier to pursue the arts because the government subsidizes art there. In Canada you pay higher taxes but you get something back for it; schools, medical care and a decent retirement plan. In the US most of your tax money goes to support the military and you have to pay for school and medical care out of your own pocket. In some places you also have to pay separately for garbage removal, police and fire services (on TOP of the local tax you’ve already paid). Plus in the US unless you work for the government you have no guaranteed sick leave, no maternity leave and no pension plan. Americans have to plan everything for themselves and finance it out of what they earn as opposed to Canadians who can count on the government to do some of that for them. Also, fewer foreign drug cartels shooting up the place in Canada.
