I agree with all that has been said. But just one more bit of advise...have a backup plan. Have someone back home to send money if you run out.
There is Western Union and Moneygram here.
References :
we all go to secondary (high) school till 16, then those who want to go to university at 18 stay on till 18 to do A levels.
'College' normally means where you go at 18, to do a degree (not as good as a university), but it's confusing as we also have sixth-form colleges from 16-18.

Depends what you mean really. What is different from the US is that when we say 'school' we mean where you go up till 16 whereas I believe you include post-18 education in the definition of 'school'?
References :
No, you don't need to stay in Australia after you've validated your visa but it's important that you keep DIAC informed of your address. Spouses on temporary spouse visas are able to travel to and from Australia without restriction.

It would probably be a good idea to be in Australia when your visa is due to become permanent because there will be an interview to prove that the relationship is still intact at that time and the process will be simpler if you're here, but if (and only if) you apply for your original visa offshore, your permanent visa can be granted either onshore or offshore provided DIAC know exactly where you are at that time.

Note that when you have your permanent visa, it is valid for only 5 years if you are outside Australia and you must meet certain residence and/or other requirements to be eligible for a Resident Return visa. You can't just get a permanent visa on the off chance that you may want to travel to Australia at some time in the future. Our Permanent Residents are expected to be committed to Australia.

If you've been in a partner relationship for 5 years (or 2 years if you have children together), your visa will probably be permanent from day 1 and then the 5 year validity and residence requirements will come into play immediately.
References :
Well the question is complicated because no one can answer what YOU need to be comfortable.

The minimum wage in JA is roughly US$60 per week, or $240 per month. PPL live off that everyday, but it means they have nothing left after taxes & paying bills. Even without rent to pay ( lots live at home or with family ) its still not easy because of meals, taxi fare, clothes, phone cards, personal items, etc.....

Also understand you'll MOST Likely "helping out" your friends ( or "new" friends ) once they see a foreign, you WILL get begged. So whatever amount you need, kick in MORE for those times ppl give you hard luck stories.

If it were me, I would say min of $100 weekly, or $1,200 for the 3 months. But if money is no issue then $1000 per month will have you comfortable with no worries.
References :
Good answers. Write the schools of your choice or interest. Request a catalog. Read and re-read the catalog. All of your questions will be answered. If you have a question and can't find an answer, write the admissions officer of that school. Schools today are struggling to find students. They will welcome your interest.
References :
Experience

1. Most Jamaicans survive on living expenses less than J$20,000 per month (about US$220). Thats excluding rent or auto expenses of course.
2. That may not include 'social activity' expenses, such as partying or gaming. We all party differently, so the important thing is to not exceed your budget.
3. In rural Jamaica, living expenses can vary TREMENDOUSLY because most people are more into farming and less into burger king and other fast food joints. You will eat more Yam, Dasheen, Banana, dumplings. These will further reduce your spending.

Personally? I would recommend budgeting US$300 to US$500 per month. Please consider though, that having all that cash with you in Jamaica on your person CAN be an invitation for theft in places you would least expect it! Even at home. Be cautious of that risk.
